With Every Breath

She vowed never to love a man like him…
His love costs a dangerous price

Professor Imani Maxwell is devasted when one of her students is kidnapped. The last thing Imani wants is to be attracted to sexy FBI agent Garrison Wade. Garrison is exactly the kind of man Imani has sworn to avoid at all costs. But when she suddenly finds herself the target of the kidnapper’s sadistic game of cat and mouse, it’s Garrison she turns to for help. Nothing can prepare them for the intense heat that ignites between them… and no one can stop a deadly predator who wants Imani dead.

When a serial killer kidnaps associate professor Imani Maxwell’s prized student, she must work closely with FBI special agent Garrison Wade to solve the mystery. With a near-perfect track record, Garrison is known for his single-minded focus. For the first time, however, he’s finding it difficult to keep his thoughts on work. Imani has cast a spell on him that, surprisingly, he doesn’t want to break. Few authors pen work that is so thoroughly engrossing the characters leave a lasting impression. Smith manages this. The subtle attraction between Imani and Garrison, mixed with riveting suspense, makes for addictive reading. Both strong-willed and powerful in nature, Imani and Garrison complement each other. Differences of opinion create tension and chemistry that add spice to the story. With Every Breath is engaging reading that is sure to provide hours of pleasure.

The original title of the book was If Walls Could Talk, inspired by the Celine Dion song that’s featured during one of the scenes in the book. The title was rejected by my editor, who felt that If Walls Could Talk sounded more like a women’s fiction novel.
